Rising Mists of Dawn Journal
The following description appears on the inside cover of your journal.
The low melancholy yodel of a loon echoes over the rolling hills as we come to an opening where morning’s mist lingers. Stepping from the dark forest, dry twigs crackle beneath our feet provoking a pair of pied-billed grebes to guide their chicks through a maze of water lilies to the safety of deeper water. A perfect reflection of forest green and pale-blue sky paints the water’s surface. It dazzles our senses and catches our breath in its stillness.
We know we are witnessing a transient moment in the life of this lake, before the sun wakes the wings of the dragonflies hidden deep in the dew. Fish linger among the dark roots of the water’s edge, while frogs wait for the sun’s warmth to begin their seasonal chorus.
