Jane Jaskevich

Jane lives in Atlanta where she teaches art and creates dreams in stone and acrylic paint.

Jaskevich creates personalities when she paints her animal portraits. Being a sculptor, photographer and painter, Jane’s approach to the subject shows these influences. Many of the animals appear to be posing for a formal portrait. They are close-up and looking at the viewer. The colorful backgrounds act as a backdrop that pops them forward and adds a mystical quality. The other approach to the subject is to portray the group dynamics of the herd or pack. Her own pack of animal family consists of 3 dogs, 2 cats, 2 turtles and various pond fish. Animals have always been an important part of her life. Growing up on 20 acres she watched owls and raccoons raise their families. Currently she has a mountain home where she experiences the magic of the wildlife bears she paints.

Jane is also a stone carver specializing in the human and animal form. Her stone figures are created by combining various materials such as different stones, wood and found objects.

She received her BFA from University of Georgia and Masters in Art from Florida State and completed workshops in Pietrasanta, Italy.

2012 brought an exhibition in the NYC Affordable Art Fair and her sculptures published in Contemporary Sculptors by Kracun/ McFadden.

Her public collections include a garden sculpture in a Michigan church and three sculptures for NationsBank Headquarters in Tampa. Jane has two sculptures in the permanent collection of the Polk Museum of Art in Lakeland, Florida. Her large-scale bronze sculptures are the focal point for the Tampa GTE Data Center.

Jaskevich is represented by Besharat Gallery in Atlanta, Duncan McClellan Gallery in St Petersburg FL, River Gallery in Chattanooga TN, Art Cellar in Banner Elk, NC and Carol Robinson Gallery in New Orleans.

Her work can be seen also on her website www.jaskevich.com
